How to apply our Waterslide Transfer – Instructions
Our transfers can be used on smooth painted or unpainted surfaces (walls, furniture, doors, glass, mirrors, ceramics, candles, metal and on most of your craft projects).

Finalise all your painting first. This includes (distressing, antiquing, crackling etc).
Please ensure that the object on which you would like to place your transfer decal has been standing for 12-24 hours after having been painted with chalk paint.
It is advisable to seal any chalk painted surfaces with a clear sealer prior to adhering your transfers to the object.
Ensure that the object you want to place the transfer onto, is smooth and free from any dust, dirt, oil etc.
Those designs which have more than 1 design on a page can be cut into smaller decals to use in various positions on your object.
STEP 1
Using a sharp scissors, start cutting out the design on the outlines of the image (+- 3mm from edge). Place your pieces onto your object and position them to where you would like the design(s) to be. Make a mental note – alternatively take a photo.
Step 2
Fill your tray with lukewarm water (not hot).
Step 3
Submerge your design (if you have more than 1 please work with one piece at a time). Wait +- 30 seconds. The edges of the paper will curl up and after about 20-30 seconds the transfer will start to flatten in the water.
Do not leave your transfer in the water too long for it will completely separate from the paper. Hold the transfer carefully – you will feel the printed image start to slide off the white backing paper – this means it is ready to apply onto your surface.
Step 4
Remove your transfer from the water and position directly onto your project face up, prior to removing any water.
Step 5
Once you have positioned your transfer (carefully) onto your project start sliding the backing paper out from underneath the clear film image, whilst holding the clear printed film softly in place with your fingers.
Step 6
Fold your backing paper and by using the smooth side, begin smoothing out the surface of your transfer, pushing out the excess water and removing bubbles and/or creases. You may use your finger as well or the soft cloth. You need to remove as much water between the surface and the transfer as possible. Take care not to stretch or tear your transfer. Use a paper towel to gently blot off any remaining water.
Step 7
Leave to dry thoroughly (at least 3 hours).
If you wish to protect your transfer from surface scratches, moisture, or fading then best to seal with a water based acrylic varnish.
Remember your project needs to be dry/cured before applying a clear sealer or spray lacquer over your transfer and your project to protect and seal the design.
